As you stand amidst the towering old-growth
forest at Quatse River Regional Park and
Campground, it is easy to forget that all the
amenities of town are only five minutes away.
There is a wealth of family oriented fun
within an easy stroll of this year-round
campground, and much of it can be reached
without moving your RV or camper. Take in the
scenery as you enjoy an easy forty-five minute
walk to town on a well-maintained community
trail. Follow the trail along river and ocean
shoreline, past the Fisherman’s Wharf to
downtown, or take a side trail to a
wildlife-viewing platform in the estuary.
There are signboard maps located in the
campground to guide you |

The Quatse River Regional Park and Campground has been operated since 1983 by the Northern Vancouver Island Salmonid Enhancement Association (NVISEA). NVISEA is a non-profit organization, created to aid in the recovery of salmonid stocks
and habitat in North Island streams. |
As part of its mandate, NVISEA has provided
community based salmonid stewardship opportunities
throughout the North Island. The Association, through
its employees and countless volunteers, prides itself
in conserving and restoring salmonid populations and
habitat on Northern Vancouver Island. NVISEA also
operates the Quatse River Salmon Hatchery located
adjacent to the campground. Guided tours of the Quatse
River Hatchery are available to those interested. All
of the profits generated by NVISEA's operation of the
Quatse River Regional Park and Campground go directly
to funding salmon enhancement and habitat restoration
projects on the North Island
